The AlpTransit Gotthard AG (ATG) was awarded the contract for the detailed planning, design and construction of this new rail connection. The ATG is a full-owned subsidiary company of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) located in Lucerne; it employs about 160 staff at the present time.
