Status of the Work in Sedrun
The inner lining of the multifunction station, and concreting work in the single-track tunnel south-west, are on course. Both south drives have left the striated gneisses and are proceeding in the constructionally favourable Piz Fuorcla zone, where average advance rates of 4 to 5 metres per working day are being achieved in both tunnels. The two drives are virtually level with each other. In the single-track tunnel south-east, the cable junction vault for the 132 kV power supply was excavated in parallel with driving. The depth of covering rock has reached as much as 2,300 metres. At 43°C, the rock temperature is below the forecast value.
