Status of the Work in Sigirino

Driving of the Ceneri Base Tunnel from the Sigirino intermediate heading continues at full speed to the south and to the north in both tubes. At present, driving of the invert is proceeding in both directions, and approximately 4.0 km of permanent invert have been laid.

In the last few months, the geological conditions have improved. This has been confirmed with core bores to the south.

Execution of the spoil deposit continues.

Work on the wild-animal passage continues; in the next few months the wing walls will be realised. Traffic is currently being routed through the central section of the structure.
