Status of the Work in Faido

Installation of the bench in the east tube at Faido from the lot boundary at Sedrun began in December 2011. At the end of April 2012, around 11,140 m of bench had been concreted on both sides. The cable tray (rucksack) for the 132 kV cables is following the bench construction site. At the end of April 2012, 7,725 m had been concreted.

On April 23, 2012, work on the infrastructure systems in the Faido section began on schedule with installation of the permanent cross-passage doors. It is planned to equip three cross passages per week.

In the transverse cavern, work on the two-storey structure to accommodate the technical rooms continues steadily.

With the completion of work on the inner lining of the tunnel branchoff east-north, the construction of all four tunnel branch-offs is complete. In the east single-track tunnel by the construction-logistical cross passage 4, the last vault block has been concreted. Construction of the vault in the east side of the Faido section is therefore complete. In the multifunction station, concreting work is still in progress in the emergency stop station west and in the construction-logistical cross passages 2 and 4.

In the west side tunnel, the definitive invert is now being concreted and the final shotcrete layer is being applied to the vault.

Work on the portal structure at Faido has started on schedule. The pre-tunnel of the access adit and the portal wall are now being demolished and the excavation work performed.
