The Chief Executive Officer, in collaboration with the other members of the Executive Board, is responsible for the executive management of the company. He is responsible for elaborating and implementing the entrepreneurial goals of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd.

Dieter Schwank has been Chief Executive Officer of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd (ATG) since July 1, 2017. A Basel lawyer as well as holder of an Executive MBA degree from the University of St Gallen, he is also Head of Legal Services, for which he already became responsible on joining ATG in 2009. From 1998 to 2009 Dieter Schwank was Head of Legal Services at Steiner Group in Zurich. Prior to that he was employed as Legal Counsel with the Sulzer Group in Winterthur, from 1989 to 1992 in Central Legal Services and from 1993 to 1998 with Sulzer International.
Toni Büchler has been Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Board of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd since 2002 and since 2006 is also its Deputy CEO. From 1999-2001 the MBA was Head of Finance and Controlling of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. From 1985-1999 Toni Büchler worked in various managerial functions for Swiss Federal Railways. He was Head of the Regional Passenger Traffic Business Segment, Head of Regional Traffic Projects and Head of Development Financial and Management Systems Passenger Traffic Division.
Stephan Aerni has been Head of Commissioning and Technology and a member of the Executive Board of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd since January 1, 2017. A graduate electrical engineer FH / NDS UF, he was formerly with ATG from 2012 – 2016 in the Commissioning Business Segment as Head of Preparation, and from 2008 – 2012 as Project Leader Commissioning in the Railway Systems Business Segment. From 2002 – 2008 Stephan Aerni worked for SBB as Project Leader in Rollout GSM-R Network Development and from 2005 as Head of Planning in the Telecom Division. As Project Leader Mobile Telephony Network Development, between 2000 and 2002 he was employed by the companies Network 41 AG and Telestrom AG. Following his electrical engineering studies, from 1995 to 2000 Stephan Aerni was globally active for Rockwell Automation in the area of industrial automation as a commissioning and project engineer and as a product manager.
Marco Ceriani has been Head of Tunnel and Track Construction and a member of the Executive Board of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd since 2012.
With a University of Applied Sciences Degree in Civil Engineering, he was formerly from 1997-2012 with Swiss Federal Railways as Deputy Overall Project Leader of the Zurich Cross City Link, Section Leader Weinberg Tunnel, and Project Leader Tunnel Construction, Construction Department District III. From 1995-1997 Marco Ceriani worked as Product Manager Geotechnics and Head of Construction Prestressing Systems with StahlTon AG and from 1991-1995 as Civil Engineer with Werner Höhn Engineering Consultants. From 1988-1991 Marco Ceriani was Project Leader Tunnel and Railway Construction with Werner Galli Engineering Consultants.
