New film about the Gotthard project of the century in 2014

Railway systems in the GBT almost completely installed – first pilot runs in the Gotthard Base Tunnel successfully completed – 90 percent of the Ceneri Base Tunnel excavated: those are important milestones in the construction of the NRLA that were attained by the tunnel constructors on the Gotthard in 2014. The film by AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. documents the progress of construction with impressive scenes.

AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. presents its latest documentary film. Throughout the year, a camera team followed the work on the various AlpTransit construction sites to the north and south of the Gotthard. The result is an approximately 20-minute film, which documents the progress in spectacular sequences. Work in the Gotthard Base Tunnel progressed rapidly in 2014. In October, the laying of 115 kilometres of ballastless track was completed with the Golden Sleeper. On the pilot section between Faido and Bodio West, more than 650 test runs took place. In incremental speed tests, the trains travelled at more than 200 km/h for the first time.

Work on the Ceneri Base Tunnel was also on schedule. In March 2014, the concreting work at the north portal at Vigana was completed. Driving to the north and south progressed at full speed. After the decision by the Swiss Supreme Court, the award made by AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. became legally binding.Work for the railway infrastructure can begin.
