Werner Marti new Chairman of the ATG Board of Directors

Werner Marti is the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd (ATG). The 52-years-old attorney at law from the canton of Glarus was elected to this office by the General Meeting of ATG held on June 11, 2009. He succeeds Hans-Kaspar Dick, who has retired from the ATG Board of Directors on grounds of age.

From 1986 to 1990, Werner Marti was a member of the Municipal Council of Sool and of the Cantonal Parliament of Glarus. From 1990 to 1998 he was a member of the Executive Government of the Canton of Glarus. From November 1991 until the end of 2008 he was a member of the Swiss National Council. From 1996 to 2004 Werner Marti was also Price Commissioner.

Werner Marti was elected a member of the ATG Board of Directors at the Extraordinary General Meeting held on October 20, 2008. He took up office on January 1, 2009. ATG is a subsidiary of Swiss Federal Railways Ltd with the mission of planning and constructing the Gotthard axis with the base tunnels under the Gotthard and Ceneri.
