AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. and SIEMAG Tecberg GmbH have signed the work contract for the hoisting equipment for the two 800-metres-deep hoistways at Sedrun. The hoisting equipment will be used for inspection and maintenance work. Installation will start in August 2013.
The contract for "Lot C – Hoisting Equipment Sedrun Shafts" is worth approximately 18 million Swiss francs. SIEMAG Tecberg GmbH is tasked with planning and developing the hoisting equipment for the around 800-metres-deep vertical shafts at Sedrun, as well as its manufacture, installation and commissioning.
The hoisting equipment in Shaft 1 will serve primarily as an inspection platform for inspection of the constructional state of the hoistway, as well as the cables and water pipes installed in it, when the Gotthard Base Tunnel goes into operation. The hoisting equipment will also be used for any necessary repair work, or for replacing cables or pulling new cables into the shaft. For inspection of Shaft 2, a mobile winch with inspection cage will be installed. This can also be used for evacuation of the hoisting equipment in Shaft 1.
Installation of the hoisting equipment in Shaft 1 will start in August 2013 and continue until spring 2014. Subsequently, during commissioning, the hoisting equipment will be integrated into the railway tunnel control systems.
Installation of this hoisting equipment does not jeopardise a lift for Porta Alpina at a later date.
