Some of the drainage pipes installed in the Gotthard Base Tunnel display reduced durability. This is the conclusion of SKZ Kunststoff Zentrum Würzburg, which was commissioned by AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. to test the pipe material. At its meeting held on August 12, 2013, the Board of Directors of AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd. awarded the contract for the railway infrastructure systems of the Ceneri Base Tunnel. Work on the Gotthard and Ceneri base tunnels is on course. Inside the Gotthard Base Tunnel, in both tunnel tubes between Erstfeld and Sedrun, the ballastless railway track has been laid.
